Acclaimed British director and performer Andrew Dawson recreates a constantly entrancing documentary of the historic Apollo 11 moon landing using only his hands and a black-draped table. Accompanied by Shostakovich’s 10th symphony and a dramatic, lively narration, Dawson takes audiences from Houston to the moon and returns them safely to Earth, conveying the colossal distances and the risks involved simply through his skilled hand movements and wry facial expressions. Dawson has performed Space Panorama, which he created in 1987, at theaters and theater festivals throughout the world. Space Panorama arrives at Under the Radar on the tails of performing on the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC.
Performance Timing: 30 minutes.
Andrew Dawson creates visual and physical dance theatre that reaches a level that is beyond verbal dialogue.
